Accounting is not all about the numbers - it is about asking the right questions to the right people. Just back from Turnberry Hotel where the ACCI and the BBC held a live radio broadcast. I asked the question "given the private sector is to be the economic growth engine, what is the Government, Members of Parliaments and the Public Sector really doing to assist the local small and medium sized business sector develop"? The answers from the four MP / MSP panelists were varied ranging from Rates, support, the need for support and the impact of the budgets. So never a straight answer - however at least it was highlighted to the correct audience.
